"I Want To Be You When I Grow Up"

I've watched this three times today.  It's made me cry every single time.  If you're not watching So You Think You Can Dance....you should be. You really should be.

Inspiring stuff.

I went looking for that song, thinking for sure it was a Postal Service song I hadn't heard before. And holy god, that's NOT the Postal Service! Lionel Hutz could win an infringement suit against that band.

I assumed it was Death Cab for Cutie. Who is it? I was actually meaning to look up the song myself.

Some band called Owl City.

It broke my heart to see Anthony Burrell (torn hamstrng) greet Mia at his Harlem basement apartment grilled front door -- then sit with her alone (no family or friends like the other contestants had around them) and hear her devastating news.

I still tear up when I remember how he lowered his head and Mia put her hand so gently on it. You could tell it hurt her so much not to be able to watch him on the show (or choreograph for him).

I suspect a factor in his not being chosen was his ham string injury. I'm sure she explained that to him. Still. Every dancer is only an injurty away from their version of death, not being able to dance.

So many tears of joy shed so far this season. It's THE best ongoing series on television. Like have season tickets to world-class choreograpy & dancing on the planet, every week.

Excellent--thanks Barbara.

Agree about Anthony. Kind of shocked they didn't take him--must have been due to injury. They took six guys, why not him? Oh well. I'm not sure how I feel about having half the show be ringers as it were. WIll probably improve the dance quality overall, but take away some of the drama. Also, isn't there some risk that the 'pros' as it were will not have as motivation to really push themselves (since nothing's on the line for them) and not live up to their partners? We'll see.

One thing I hate about the show is the overstaged Hollywoodized "produced" nature of it. Nigel's supposed "getting lost" while looking for Kent drove me crazy. GIve me a break. Obviously he's not lost: he's got 50 guys of crew around him, filming him. Drives me nuts. Nigel's too much a showboat, but I guess that's what you put up with.

Also can't stand Tyce DiOrio. Good God. Make him go away.

But Adam...yes! What a wonderful human being. As my wife put it last night: I wish he was one of our friends!
